Alfred P. Donovan

Alfred P. Donovan is a former Police Chief of the Tewksbury (Massachusetts) Police Department and has over 38 years’ experience in law enforcement. Chief Donovan began his law enforcement career in 1976 as a reserve police officer for the Tewksbury Police Department. He ascended through the ranks from patrolman, sergeant, lieutenant, Deputy Police Chief and was appointed Police Chief in 2003. Chief Donovan served as Tewksbury Police Chief until his retirement in January 2010.

In 1998, then Lieutenant Donovan created APD Management Consultants, a firm that focused on providing training and executive development for law enforcement personnel. APD has provided training for over 2,000 law enforcement officers. Since his retirement in 2010, Chief Donovan has conducted seminars and provided training for hundreds of law enforcement officers seeking to become the clear choice when participating in their department’s Assessment Center Testing process.

During his tenure as a Massachusetts Police Chief, Chief Donovan was appointed as the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Chairman of the Police Chiefs Committee on Civil Service. During that time Chief Donovan was the chairperson for the team that was responsible for proposing, developing and implementing a successful Regional Assessment Center Initiative (RACI) that partnered the Massachusetts Civil Service System and the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association in offering a statewide Assessment Center Testing process for the positions of Captain, Deputy Police Chief and Police Chief. Chief Donovan, the members of his committee and a Civil Service representative developed, wrote and implemented Assessment Center Test exercises and effected a statewide Assessment Center Testing process for those positions.

In 2012, Chief Donovan partnered with retired Chief Richard Stanley (Towns of North Andover and Wareham, Massachusetts) to create Integrity Testing, LLC, a firm dedicated to providing executive development, recruitment, selection and promotional services to public safety organizations throughout New England. Since its inception Integrity Testing LLC has successfully developed and administered numerous Assessment Center Tests for various ranks throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Chief Donovan has now established a comprehensive online training website designed to reach Assessment Center Test candidates who are unable to attend his live training seminars.
